Design Technology

Design Technology Vision:

"To inspire pupils to be innovative and creative thinkers who have an appreciation for the product design cycle.  Develop confidence and independence in taking risks, through drafting design concepts, modelling and testing.  Be reflective learners who evaluate their own work and others around them.  Build an awareness of the importance and impact of design and technology on our lives.  To encourage pupils to be resourceful and enterprising citizens who will have the skills to contribute positively to future design advancements."

Curriculum:

The principal aim is, through our Linden Curriculum, to develop children’s skills, knowledge and understanding in D&T. Teachers plan for the teaching of skills and ensure that children apply their knowledge and understanding when recording, investigating, developing ideas, planning, making, evaluating, etc. Children are able to use practical equipment and resources to broaden their understanding of design and technology.

We do this through whole class teaching, group or individual activities. Within lessons, we give children the opportunity both to work on their own and to collaborate with others, listening to other children’s ideas and building opportunities for oracy wherever possible. Children also have the opportunity to use a wide range of materials and resources, including ICT.   Activities planned build upon prior experience and learning and provide children with the opportunity to develop their skills, knowledge and understanding from previous year groups.
